The delicate intricacy of the bat skeleton, encased in clear lucite, offers a unique blend of science and art. This piece not only serves as an educational tool but also stands out as a distinctive piece of biology decor. The bat, with its over 1,100 species, showcases nature's incredible diversity, from the minuscule bumblebee bat to the majestic flying foxes boasting 6-foot wingspans.

Bats are nature's only mammals gifted with the capability of sustained flight. Their forelimbs, webbed and evolved into wings, set them apart in the mammalian kingdom. Their nocturnal nature and reliance on echolocation for navigation make them fascinating subjects of study.

The skeleton you see is that of a Japanese House Bat or Japanese Pipistrelle. Native to regions like Japan, Taiwan, and Korea, this vesper bat is known to roost in building roofs, earning its name. As a typical vesper bat, it feeds primarily on insects and uses echolocation to navigate its nightly hunts. This piece not only captures the essence of the bat but also tells the story of its life and habits.

unfortunately, the jaw had broken off by the time we unwrapped the rat skeleton. But, other than that it was good.
