Bearded Dragon – Pogona vitticeps

The Bearded Dragon is native to Australia. They have a broad triangular head and flattened body, with an expandable pouch beneath their jaw. They bask most of the day, absorbing heat from the sun, which allows them to digest their food.

Though Bearded Dragon are capable of climbing, they are only semi-arboreal and they do not have the grip possessed by some lizard species. This specimen has been mounted with his head slightly elevated.
