Chafer Beetle in Resin

Chafer Beetles small scarab beetles, about the size of a honeybee. They feed on nectar and pollen, so they are most abundant on sunny says in May, June, and July. Their shells have a prismatic quality, refracting ambient light to give their bright green a sort of rainbow iridescence. They live mostly in the northeaster United States and western Europe. This specimen is set in transparent lucite resin, making it a great decorative piece or educational display.
