The Fossil Stingray (Heliobatis sp.) captured in this fossil was found in Fossil Lake, which is part of the Green River Formation located in Wyoming. There are only two types of stingrays that have ever been discovered in this location.
This Fossil Stingray is surrounded by several fossil fish (Knightia sp.). The stone frames the stingray perfectly. This specimen is special because of its complexity and how well the stingray has been preserved.
Fossils are one of Evolution's specialties – we carry a variety of large and small specimens!
