Gaboon Viper – Bitis gabonica

The gaboon viper is a venomous snake often found in Sub-Saharan Africa. In fact, it has the highest venom yield of any venomous snake in the world. On average, they grow five feet long, although one specimen was found that measured nearly seven feet.

This gaboon viper has been mounted in a slithering pose, with its head slightly elevated off the ground. The vivid diamond pattern is clearly visible along its skin, with alternating grey, brown, and black details.
