Lizard In a Jar - Anolis sagrei
The lizards in these jars are Brown Anoles. This is a species of lizard originally native to Cuba and the Bahamas, but has now been introduced widely throughout the United States, including Florida, Georgia, and Texas.
Brown Anoles are considered highly invasive, as it out-competes and out-consumes species of lizard native to the United States, such as the Carolina Anole. These lizards have been preserved in small glass jars filled with a rubbing alcohol solution.
Evolution carries a variety of critters preserved in jars, including sharks, squid, and rats!
