Phrenology Head, Medium, The Human Mind
Phrenology is a now-defunct pseudoscience which
purported to be able to predict or diagnose personality traits based on
bumps, bulges or fissures on the individual's head. It arose in the
nineteenth century.
The curious image of a head divided into little
compartments with labels such as "blandness" or "sense of the terrific"
remains compelling to this day, and the phrenology head is still an
interesting psychological symbol!
