Rainbow Lorikeet – Trichoglossus haematodus
The Rainbow Lorikeet is a species of Australasian parrot. It is native to Australia, eastern Indonesia (specifically, Maluku and Western New Guinea), and Papua New Guinea, among other regions. Its natural habitat is rainforest, coastal bush, and woodland areas.
Rainbow Lorikeets are considered to be true parrots. There are a dozen subspecies of Rainbow Lorikeets. They are medium-sized parrots, and range in length from 9.8” to 11.8”. Their plumage is very bright.
