Routilated Quartz

Quartz is the most abundant mineral on earth. Rutilated quartz forms in quartz veins, with reddish or golden rutile crystals (composed of titanium dioxide) enveloped within the quartz crystal.

While transparent quartz crystal is most valued when it shows no impurities, rutilated quartz is valued chiefly because of them. The mineral is often called “Venus hair stone,” “Fleches d'amour” or “Cupid's darts” because of these thin lines of gold that seem to pierce the stone.

We have hand-selected pieces of the best quality, with flat-cut bases to stand upright and a fine polish which preserves the natural shape of the crystal point.
