The walrus is the only living member of the Odobenidae family. Found in different areas around the Pacific Ocean on shallow ocean shelves or ice lakes, walrus are immediately recognizable by their large tusks and enormous girth. Because of its great size, their only natural predators are Orca whales and Polar bears. Their giant tusks can grow up to one meter, weighing up to 12 lbs, and play a key role in social structure, with the largest-tusked males often asserting dominant control over the group.
