Bull Shark Jaw – Carcharhinus leucas

The Science

These are small jaws from the Bull Shark, a common species found in shallow temperate waters around the globe.  Bull sharks are quite large - adult females averaging 11 feet long, and weighing some 500 pounds. Because they come in close to the same coasts at which people like to swim, they are probably responsible for more attacks than any other species of shark.

The Story

The teeth of the Bull Shark are triangular in shape with serrated edges. Very much the classic image of a shark's tooth, they are sharp enough to cut paper!
