FRAMED PAINTED BAT - KERIVOULA PICTA
THE SCIENCE
This is a specimen of Kerivoula picta, a small and colorful insectivorous bat that may be found widely across Southeast Asia, from Bangladesh to Indonesia. It roosts singly or in small family groups in trees and vines, often among dead or dried-out leaves or birds' nests. An uncommon species, it is remarkable for its orange color and strong wing markings which account for its common name.
THE STORY
Bats are incredibly diverse, with more than 1,100 species - from the tiny bumblebee bat to giant flying foxes with six-foot wingspans. The forelimbs of a bat are webbed and developed as wings, making them the only mammals capable of sustained flight! Each specimen has been hand-selected by our buying team to ensure your bat is of the highest quality.
