MONKEY SKULL, RESIN
Monkeys are dry-nosed primates, most species of which are arboreal, and diurnal. There are about 260 known living species. There are two major types of monkey: New World monkeys (found throughout much of Central and South America) and Old World monkeys (found throughout much of Asia and Africa). Hominoid apes, which include gorillas, chimpanzees, and humans, are often likened to monkeys- but comprise a separate taxonomic family of primates altogether. Similarly, tailless monkeys are sometimes (incorrectly) referred to as apes. Monkeys range in size from the pygmy marmoset, which can be as small as 4.6 inches with a 6.8-inch tail and weighing around 3.5 ounces, to the male mandrill, which can be over three feet long and weigh close to 80 pounds!
Our resin Monkey Skull has been cast (with great detail) from a real specimen of a young macaque, and is finished in a realistic aged bone patina. It makes a great demonstrative prop, as well as a very cool decorative piece for any space.
