Reusable Cork Coffee Cup - Killer Coffee
THE SCIENCE
The history of coffee is estimated to date back to around 850 CE, the oldest evidence of its use dating back to the 15th century in the Sufi monasteries of Yemen. It traveled to Europe in the 1500s and the Americas in the 1700s, quickly becoming a highly favored drink and birthing rich coffee drinking cultures everywhere it went.
THE STORY
Every year, 16 billion disposable coffee cups are discarded globally, averaging to over 30,000 cups per minute. Less than 1% of these cups are recycled, and since these cups are often coated in plastic in their interiors and sport plastic lids, they take at least 30 years to degrade.
