Vintage Lancelet Fish Poster

The lancelets, consist of about 30-35 species of "fish-like" benthic filter feeding chordates in the order Amphioxiformes. Zoologists are interested in them because they provide evolutionary insight into the origins of vertebrates.

Although they can technically swim, Lancelets spend most of their time trying to stay as still as possible. They burrow into the ocean floor, stick their heads out, and let their gill slits do all the work, filtering tiny food particles into their mouths.

This large and colorful vintage zoological roll down wall chart of a Lancelet Fish was designed by Jung, Koch & Quentell and printed by Hagemann Publishers, Dusseldorf, Germany between 1970 and 1979.

Hagemann is internationally recognized for producing educational science charts since 1929.

It is mounted on linen canvas stretched on wooden rods and comes with a cord strung through the top wooden rod for easy hanging. It is in very good condition with light wear consistent with age and use.
