The Science
This specimen is a ball python (Python regius), also called the royal python. It is a python species native to West and Central Africa, where it lives in grasslands, shrublands and open forests. This nonvenomous constrictor is the smallest of the African pythons, growing to a maximum length of 72 in. The name "ball python" refers to its tendency to curl into a ball when stressed or frightened.
Albino ball pythons are a color morph of the common ball python, known for their striking yellow and white coloration
The Story
This ball python was treated with formalin for several weeks and then transferred to its jar filled with 70% rubbing alcohol. The rubbing alcohol can be added or replaced as needed.
