The Science

This mineral is named after the Amazon River, where, according to legend, it was first discovered. Amazonite is a green to blue-green variety of microcline feldspar, with its color coming from trace amounts of lead and water. Known for its tetrahedral twinning, it has a distinctive mottled appearance. Prized in metaphysical practices for promoting balance and emotional healing, amazonite is also popular in jewelry for its vibrant color and smooth texture.
