GEMSTONE SOAP - OPALITE

The Science

Opalite is a man-made glass, often crafted to mimic the look of opal with its iridescent, milky appearance. It’s composed primarily of silica mixed with other minerals, giving it a similar play-of-color to opals, though it lacks the true crystal structure of natural opal. What’s fascinating is that opalite can appear to shift in color depending on the light, from pale blue to milky white, making it a popular choice for decorative items and metaphysical practices. Despite its glass origin, opalite is often mistaken for natural opal due to its strikingly similar visual properties.
Also called argenon, sea opal, and opal moonstone, this stone simulates the incredible iridescence of natural opal.
