This skull is carved from Picture Sandstone, a remarkable material originating at the border of Arizona and Utah, USA. Dating from some 120 million years ago, the sandstone is swirled with stripes of iron oxides, and when cut reveals decorative patterns resembling remarkable landscapes and vistas.
