Turritella is a genus of medium-sized sea snails with an operculum, a marine gastropod mollusk in the family Turritellidae. This genus is known from the Cretaceous period to the present.

 

 

The Story

The name Turritella comes from the Latin word turritus 'turreted, towered' and the diminutive suffix -ella.
