BRAZILIAN COWHIDE RUGS
THE SCIENCE
Cattle, Bos taurus (colloquially “cows”) are the most common type of large, domesticated, quadrupedal ungulates. They’re a very prominent member of the Bovidae family, and are the most widespread species of the genus Bos. Members of this species are raised as livestock for meat, as dairy animals for milk and other dairy products, and as work animals. Byproducts of raising cattle include cowhide (for leather, etc.) and dung, used as manure and fuel. Cows are often considered one of the earliest forms of currency and wealth. Most breeds have horns; these may extend as far as seven feet, tip to tip, as is the case with the Texas Longhorn. However, careful genetic selection has allowed polled (hornless) cattle to become prevalent across the globe.
THE STORY
These beautiful, premium cowhide rugs are fashioned from raw cowhide (including rare, solid-white cowhide) obtained as byproducts from cattle-raising in Brazil. Due to natural variety, exact sizes and patterns may vary slightly from dimensions and images shown.
