FLOWER CHAFER BEETLE - TORYNORRHINA FLAMMEA
THE SCIENCE:
Torynorrhina flammea is a beautiful species of beetle in the Scarabaeidae family, found in Thailand, Assam, Malaysia, and China. Members of this species can reach 1.2-1.4 inches in length. This is one of the most variable species of beetle with regards to coloration; T. flammea has been found in cobalt blue, emerald green, scarlet red, and other colors (and combinations of them). There is slight sexual dimorphism within the species with females, on average, having wider forelegs than males.
