Polished Hematite

The Science

Hematite is an iron oxide that can be found in many rocks and soils. It ranges in color from solid black, to steely gray, to reddish-brown. Its name means "blood-red stone", in reference to the latter color variation.

The Story

These pieces of hematite have been hand-polished. They retain their natural shape, which varies from bumpy to smooth to shard-like. These specimens are available in two sizes.
