Pyrite
Pyrite is an Iron Sulfide, and can be a stunning natural mineral. Because of its yellowish metallic luster, it is often referred to as “fool's gold”. It is found all over the world, and takes many different forms, from blobby concretions to natural faceted crystals. One of the most interesting of these are natural cubic crystals. These pieces from Navajun, Spain are renowned for their perfection, appearing uncannily man-made, but they are completely natural!
Pyrite was known by the Ancient Romans for its ability to spark fire, and it still has the ability to inspire wonder!
The crystals in these specimens vary in size from about 1/2 inch across in a piece of chalky white matrix. Each one is unique, but yours will resemble the pictured examples.
