Framed Red-Bellied Piranha - PYGOCENTRUS NATTERERI
THE SCIENCE
The red-bellied piranha, Pygocentrus nattereri, is a species of piranha native to South America. This locally abundant fish is an omnivorous forager that feeds on insects, worms, crustaceans and other fish. Red-bellied piranhas are often portrayed as being one of the most ferocious freshwater fish, but in reality, they are generally timid scavengers, fulfilling a role similar to vultures on land.
THE STORY
These red-bellied piranhas have been expertly preserved! They have been dried and lacquered, and mounted in a double-glass black frame that can be hung on the wall. Each specimen has been hand-selected by our buying team.
