FROG-LEGGED LEAF BEETLE - SAGRA BUQUETI
THE SCIENCE:
Sagra buqueti is a species of beetle in the family Chrysomelidae, found in Thailand and Malaysia. Members of this species can reach lengths between 1 and 2 inches. It’s a very iridescent and colorful species of beetle, similar to species in the Buprestidae (Jewel Beetle) family- most are an amalgam of metallic green, red, and gold. It’s also a very strikingly sexually dimorphic species; males are much larger and have very long, strong hind legs (reminiscent of a frog).
