THE SCIENCE

This species of opossum is the only one living north of Mexico and is in fact the northernmost marsupial in the world. It is a solitary, nocturnal animal, and a successful opportunist. Indeed, opossums are often found near food sources such as trash cans, pet food, and compost piles.

THE STORY

This taxidermy Virginia Opossum has been mounted on a branch, which hangs on the wall. Its prehensile tail is nimbly curled around the top of the branch, and its curious snout extends into the air. It is exceptionally fuzzy, with a thick grey coat.
