ORANGE OAKLEAF BUTTERFLY - KALLIMA INACHUS
The Indian dead leaf, Kallima inachus, is a nymphalid butterfly found throughout much of tropical Asia. With wings closed (and only the undersides visible), members of this species closely resemble dry, dead leaves. The topsides of their wings are a deep blue on the base level, with shades of yellow, orange, brown, and black mixed on top. Wingspans range from around 3.3 to 4.3 inches and, as with many butterfly species, females are often larger than males. This is a polyphenic species, with those thriving in the wet tropical areas being a bit smaller and darker than their dry-area cousins, on average.
This specimen has been mounted to show its underside. Our all-natural, intact specimens (no fake parts here!) are all of first-rate quality, delicately prepared, mounted, and framed with double-glass glazing in our very own fabrication studio in Upstate New York. We model our frames from solid fine ashwood, and they’re available in both a matte-black, and a natural finish.
Our framed insects are made-to-order. Please allow up to two weeks for your order to be completed. If you need your order sooner than this, please contact us at 212-343-1114 x401 or email@example.com and we will do our best to accommodate you!
