Spiny Starfish - Marthasterias glacialis
There are over 2,000 species of starfish in the world. They can be found in every ocean, including the Atlantic, Pacific, and Arctic. They are easily distinguished from other sea life by their long arms. Starfish are also well-known for their ability to regenerate a limb if it becomes injured. Their limbs are typically referred to as “rays”. Most species of starfish have five rays, as exemplified by the Pacific Spiny Starfish seen here.
