Scorpions are predatory arthropods in the class Arachnidae. They have eight legs like spiders, but are easily recognized by their claws and curved, segmented tail tipped with a venomous stinger. Scorpions can be found all around the world, and they flourish in a variety of habitats.

Although they can be fearsome creatures with a highly unpleasant reputation, there are only about 25 known species that possess venom strong enough to kill a human.
