FRAMED JAVA PIPISTRELLE BAT - PIPISTRELLUS JAVANICUS
THE SCIENCE
The Java pipistrelle, Pipistrellus javanicus, is a species of bat found in South and Southeast Asia that favors human habitations. This genus of bats derives its name from the Italian word pipistrello, which itself is derived from the Latin word vespertilio, which means "bird of evening, bat". They are distinguished from other bats by their weak, fluttery flight reminiscent of a butterfly.
