THE SCIENCE

Ornithoptera priamus poseidon is a widespread species of birdwing butterfly found across much of Southeast Asia. This species is named after Priam, the reigning king of Troy during the Trojan War. The topsides of the males’ wings are a striking combination of electric lime-green and velvety black, while their undersides are a dark bluish-green. Papilio lorquinianus albertisi, the sea green swallowtail, is a butterfly found in Indonesia.

THE STORY

These necklaces feature genuine common green birdwing and sea green swallowtail butterfly wings. The bezel is cast from genuine sterling silver, and the wings are encased between two panes of glass so that the coloration and patterning on both sides of the wings can be viewed.
